November 18, 2008 - Success at State Swim Meet
Congratulations to USM junior Caroline Roos who set another school record at the Division 1 State Meet on Saturday, November 15. Roos finished the 100 butterfly with a national qualifying cut-off time of 59.90
November 10, 2008 - Swimmers, Diver Qualify for State
Members of the USM/Brown Deer Swimming and Diving co-op have qualified for the state meet, which will be held in Madison on Saturday, November 15 at 3:00 p.m. Qualifying for the meet were Caroline Roos USM'10 in the 100 butterfly with a school record time of 1:00.56. Andrea Slotke, a Brown Deer senior qualified for the meet in diving. The USM/Brown Deer medley relay team of Kristy Noll, Brown Deer senior (backstroke); Samantha Weber, Brown Deer senior (breastroke); Caroline Roos USM'10 (butterfly); and Caroline Bridges USM'12 (freestyle) also qualified for the state competition in a school record time of 1:54.07. The sectional meet was an all-around success with 24 of 27 swims recording personal best times.
November 3, 2008 - Boys Soccer Team Advances to State Semifinal Game
On Saturday, November 1, the USM boys soccer team captured the Kettle Moraine Lutheran Sectional Championship and will move on to the State semifinals at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, November 7 at Uihlein Soccer Park. The game will be streamed online at www.wiaa.tv/. The Wildcats earned a trip to the state tournament by topping Ozaukee High School (6-0) and Living Word Lutheran (4-2) to capture the regional title, followed by victories over St. Thomas More High School (3-0) and finally Racine St. Catherine's (1-0) to move to state. USM senior Scott Walker buried the game-winning goal on a Ryan Stewart feed in the final seconds of regulation to send the team to the WIAA State tournament.
October 23, 2008 - Varsity Field Hockey Team Advances to State Championship Game
The USM field hockey team has earned a place in the state championship game this Saturday, October 25. The team's championship game berth follows a 2-1 double-overtime win yesterday against University Lake School in the state tournament semifinal game. The state tournament championship game will be played on Saturday, October 25 at 3:00 p.m. at Brookfield Academy. The girls will take on Trinity Academy.
Wildcat Week in Review October 13– October 18, 2008
Cross Country
The varsity cross country team competed in the Midwest Classic Conference meet this weekend at UW-Parkside. The boys' team finished in third place with a total of 93 points; Ian Cooley came in ninth (17:43), Michael Wheeler finished in 11th (17:52), and Wil Gehl came 22nd (18:28) to lead the Wildcats. Leah Josephson had a great race for the girls, finishing second (16:50). Cooley and Josephson were designated all-conference runners for their top ten finishes. The team will race at sectionals at Tendick Park on Saturday, October 25.

Volleyball
The volleyball team had two competitions. They began with their last regular season match against Living Word Lutheran. They fell in four games: 9-25, 25-21, 21-25, 23-25. Angelica Miller played well, finishing with eight kills, and Sarah Lawton contributed seventeen assists. Then, the Wildcats hosted the Midwest Classic Conference North division tournament. After a full day of playing, the Wildcats finished in fifth place overall. Wayland Academy won the tournament.

Tennis
The Girls Varsity Tennis Team participated in the WIAA Individual State Tournament this past weekend. Saira Khanna had a very difficult draw and ended up losing in the first round (7-6, 6-1, 10-8). Second singles player Sarah Wiener won her first round match (6-0, 6-1), but was knocked out of the tournament in the second round by the eventual champion. In doubles, Anne Scheid/Hannah Lubar won their first round match (6-2, 6-1), but could not advance any further. The team of Annie Lesko/Lucy Bartlett ended up with a fourth place finish. The Wildcats look to add to their four straight team state titles the weekend of October 25. They will face Big Foot/Williams Bay in the semifinals.

Football
USM running back Tom Schadewald finished in sixth place in the Milwaukee metro area rushing standings for the 2008 season. Click here for stats of the area's rushing leaders.
The football team took another blow to its season last Friday against Heritage Christian. USM started off strong, scoring two touchdowns quickly to put the team up 14-0. But, due to several turnovers given up by USM, Heritage was able to fight back and at the half they were up 17-14. Both teams scored again, leading to a final score of 23-20 in Heritage Christian's favor. Tom Schadewald rushed for two touchdowns, and Alex Skebba scored another off of a pass from quarterback Dylan Heun. USM's next game is against Kenosha St. Joseph on Wednesday, October 22, 2008.

Soccer
USM went 2-1 this week. The team started strong by defeating Living Word Lutheran 1-0, with the sole goal coming from Ben Rahming. The next day, they were shut out by Grafton in a 3-0 loss. The team finished up the regular season on Monday, October 20 with a final Midwest Classic Conference victory. Josh Baker and Scott Walker each contributed two goals to the teams 4-0 victory against Messmer. They finished the regular season with an undefeated 12-0 record in conference, making them conference champions. Their overall record is 15-4-1. Due to this outstanding record the USM team received the number one seed in their regional for the state tournament. Playoffs begin at home on Thursday against the eighth seed Ozaukee.
