Academic Divisions
A Great Education at Every Age
University School of Milwaukee serves students from prekindergarten (age 3) through grade twelve. Our three academic divisions—Lower, Middle, and Upper—enjoy their own dedicated spaces within our interconnected campus. All three divisions offer comprehensive, age-appropriate educational programs designed to meet the needs of young people at each stage in their development. In addition to core academic subjects, students have unconditional access to a full selection of athletics, fine arts programs, intellectual pursuits, and special interest clubs and group activities.
While academic courses and extracurricular opportunities vary among the divisions, they share many of the same characteristics. Our small class sizes enable us to recognize and appreciate each student as an individual with different interests, learning styles, and ability levels. We emphasize hands-on learning to spark our students' engagement in the classroom. We introduce our students to a wide variety of learning experiences at an early age. Through our basic philosophy of community behavior, known as the Common Trust, we maintain a respectful community culture that reinforces good life habits.
Our outstanding faculty motivates students, engaging them in classroom discussions and projects—stretching them to their fullest potential. Our teachers know each student well and can readily determine whether a student needs extra challenges or assistance. Regular communication between parents and teachers keeps parents involved in their children's activities and accomplishments.
