Lower School Student Life
Assemblies
Assemblies provide enriching and engaging experiences as our Lower School children and teachers come together. Children learn presentation skills and how to be a respectful member of an audience.
The Great Outdoors
Our 120-acre campus provides Lower School students with the use of dynamic child-centered playgrounds, trails, tennis courts, an ice rink, playing fields, and track and cross country courses.
Family-Style Dining
Family-style dining gives students opportunities to get to know and appreciate each other, make new friends, and socialize with students of different ages and teachers.
Special Friends
Activities like Grandparents and Special Friends Day, pen-pal letters, Upper School "Study Buddies," and service days encourage relationships between adults and students of all ages.
The After School Program is designed for full-day Lower School students from 7:30 a.m. to 8 a.m. and 3:15 p.m. to 6 p.m. on school days. The program provides a safe "neighborhood," where children are free to unwind and get together with friends, eat a snack and do their homework, join in an activity, or play on the playgrounds.
Many students are also members of USM's Chess Club. Any student in senior kindergarten through twelfth grade who is interested in attending may do so. The club features chess play and other chess activities, some instruction, and various special events, including a year-end party and prize drawing. |
