Student and Professional Artwork on Display in Werner Family Art Gallery

Fourth-grade students are currently showcasing their work in the Werner Family Art Gallery alongside the work of professional watercolor artist Jeanne Nikolai Olivieri. The exhibit is titled “New Horizons: Watercolor Works by Jeanne Nikolai Olivieri and 4th Grade Artists.” Olivieri, who is a former Lower School Spanish teacher, hosted a watercolor workshop in November with students in Christina Dresang’s art class. She taught them how to carefully wet the canvas and dilute the paint, a method that allows the piece to paint itself. Through her workshop, the students learned to create “fearlessly” as they broadened their horizons of what it means to be an artist.

Their work will be on display through Feb. 21, and students and guests are invited to a special opening during Show and Share night on Jan. 24 from 5 to 6:30 p.m.
