Student Wins Special “Chef for the Day” Experience
Third-grade student Saffy McPhedran was the lucky winner of a “Chef for the Day” experience, which was an auction item donated by Flik Independent School Dining at the Holiday Shops Preview Party held in October. She, along with her classmates in Brita Willis’ 3rd-grade class, took a special tour of the kitchen in the Lower School/Middle School Dining Room. They explored the dishwashers, refrigerators, freezer, stock room, and also interacted with many Flik employees who were preparing food for the day. McPhedran even had a chance to sample (and approve) the spaghetti sauce.
During their lunch period, McPhedran’s table was treated to a surprise—it was covered in white linens with vases of beautiful flowers. During lunch, she made a special chef announcement at the podium, and the other students cheered when she announced her decision to include dessert on the day’s menu!
Many thanks to Flik, which donated the experience and gifted McPhedran with an official chef jacket, apron, and hat that she wore for the whole day.
