Boys’ Hockey Team Headed to State

Congratulations to the University School boys’ hockey team, which is headed to the state tournament after defeating the St. Mary’s Springs’ Ledgers 6–1 in the sectional 8 final of the WIAA playoffs on Friday, Feb. 22. This year was a reversal of fortunes for the Wildcats, who lost to the Ledgers in the sectional final last year.

“Congrats to our boys on their trip to Madison,” said Head Coach Jason Woods. “Not only are they elite players, but they are elite people as well. I continue to be amazed by their drive and commitment. The coaches worked hard to coordinate a game plan against the Ledgers, and the boys ran it to near perfection. Believe me, the Ledgers is an outstanding team, clearly one of the more underrated in the state. This was a great win as we work to continue our journey.”

The Wildcats earned the number-one seed in the WIAA tournament and will take on Onalaska Schools at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 28 at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison, Wisconsin.
