Upper School Theatre students present The Drowsy Chaperone
University School of Milwaukee’s Upper School theatre students present “The Drowsy Chaperone,” a musical parody in which the characters come to life on stage when a die-hard theatre fan plays her favorite cast album.
“On the surface level this show encompasses a classic “play within a play” reality,” said director Mark Edwards, Upper School drama teacher. “However, when you begin to dig slightly beyond the superficial, there is a great deal of social commentary revealed by our narrator as they dissect and analyze their favorite musical, ‘The Drowsy Chaperone.’”
This is the second USM production under the direction of Edwards, who previously taught in USM’s Middle School. Click here for a full list of the show’s cast and crew.
Performances will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, March 7 and 8, and Saturday, March 9 at 2 p.m., in USM’s Virginia Henes Young Theatre, at 2100 W. Fairy Chasm Road, Milwaukee. Tickets are $12, available at the door or online at http://our.show/usm.
