Congratulations to University School of Milwaukee’s chess team, which won the city chess championship for the third year in a row. Ninety students from 12 area schools gathered at USM on Saturday, Feb. 29 for the competition, in which USM students performed exceptionally well.
In Division 1, USM routed Brookfield East by winning all five boards of the match: 1st board: Hersh Singh ’24 2nd board: Aditya Pillai ’23 3rd board: Hadi Najeeb ’20 4th board: Aradh Kaur ’26 5th board: Jind Kaur ’28
In Division 2, the team of Reid Pezewski ’20, Nicholas Hu ’23, Jordan Thomas ’23, Logan Walls ’22, and Loic Marolda ’22 took home the 8th place trophy.
In Division 3, Luis D’Olhaberriague ’23, Alani Walls ’26, and Will Pezewski ’30 joined various co-op teams for some spirited competition.
The team is coached by Fred Lange, Upper School math teacher. We look forward to more chess action at the State Scholastic Chess Championships in Oshkosh, Wisconsin from March 20 to 22, 2020.
