Five USM Projects Advance to National History Day Finals

Congratulations to all 18 University School of Milwaukee Middle School (and one Upper School) HistoriCats, who virtually presented 13 projects at the National History Day state competition. Four USM projects were selected as national finalists at the junior level and one national finalist at the senior level, and these students will move on to a final virtual competition against the best of the best in the 50 states (and some territories and foreign countries) in June. One other project earned alternate recognition.

“These are amazing results, especially considering the adjustments that must have had to be made to make these projects shine virtually,” said Head of School Laura Fuller. “What a wonderful rallying point for these students during an otherwise challenging time. I am so grateful for how everyone in this community has gone the extra mile to support the students and put their needs first.”

Chuck Taft, 8th grade American studies history teacher and Middle School Social Studies department chair, served as the coach.
