There may not have been an all-school pep rally or a Homecoming dance, and in-person viewing of sporting events was limited (or non-existent, for indoor events), but University School of Milwaukee students and faculty still managed to make Homecoming 2020 a fun and safe experience.
Students enjoyed the chance to spend a week out of uniform thanks to special themed dress days, the week ushered in the start of livestreamed varsity athletic competitions, and even alumni participated virtually in a chess competition and Zoom gatherings with USM’s new Athletic Director Tim Williams and several of USM’s varsity head coaches. Many students showcased their school spirit by submitting work for the all-school art contest (the deadline to submit your work to firstname.lastname@example.org is Oct. 4!), and Milwaukee’s own Famous Racing Sausages visited campus on Friday to greet students at the door and compete in a race around the front circle with Willie the Wildcat. Seniors were treated to a special lunch served by various food trucks.
