    US Parent College Reading Group

Please join college counselors for the next in our series of Roundtable Reading Groups on Thursday, January 10th from 8-9 AM in the Library Reading Room. This informal, optional program is open to all Upper School parents. We will begin with a brief discussion of these college-related articles and open up to your discussion. It’s a great way to learn from and connect to counseling staff and parent peers of all Upper School levels! No RSVP necessary.
Research suggests that elite colleges don’t really help rich white guys. But they can have a big effect if you’re not rich, not white, or not a guy.
A counselor reported that he had received an email message from a parent whose child is applying to an Ivy League institution with a restricted early-action plan. The parent wanted to know why the counselor hadn’t informed the family that another senior at the school, a legacy at the Ivy, was also applying early there.
