Our Educational Priorities

Students at University School of Milwaukee are being prepared to face the challenges of tomorrow and become innovative leaders in our community. Academic excellence and achievement is the cornerstone of a University School of Milwaukee experience. Our primary goal is to give students the best possible education in every sense of the word, not only in the state of Wisconsin, but nationally. Citing our mission statement, "USM embraces a tradition of superior academic achievement through a commitment to expertise and innovation in our School."

To this end, we have established educational priorities to guide all that we do to prepare our students for the future. We value innovative teaching and professional leadership, which maintains our focus on our primary goals, while also updating and enhancing the School's curriculum and pedagogy. Global education and engagement is interwoven throughout our students' academic experience in order to foster a global perspective, enhance learning opportunities, and encourage insight, empathy and action towards today's issues. Students at USM engage in experiential learning and interacting with adults within the University School community, as well as leaders in our Greater Milwaukee community, to problem-solve and discover real-life solutions. A culture of leadership is embedded among students, faculty, and staff at University School. Leadership opportunities exist for students in each division and courses are designed to teach skills necessary to foster the next generation of leaders. Our Board of Trustees and administrative team are committed to responsible stewardship, providing financial sustainability, and resources to keep USM on the cutting-edge of best practices in the educational field. Our educational priorities show USM's determination to continue to provide the exceptional academic experience that our School is known for and to prepare our students for the world that awaits them.
